Story Summary
The episode begins when Springfield discovers that its official town anthem is not unique. The same song has been sold to several other towns, leaving Springfield embarrassed and disappointed. To restore the town's pride, Bart and Lisa decide to write a completely new anthem that truly represents Springfield.
During the public performance of the new anthem, Homer struggles to stand because of his increasing weight. His embarrassing moment worries Marge, who encourages him to start living a healthier lifestyle.
Instead of joining a fitness program, Homer meets members of the Wide Pride movement. The group believes people should be proud of their size and reject society's unrealistic expectations. Their leader, Albert, convinces Homer that he should embrace who he is rather than worry about losing weight.
As Homer becomes more involved with the movement, Marge grows increasingly concerned about his health. Although the group's message about self-confidence seems positive, it also encourages unhealthy habits.
Everything changes when Albert suddenly suffers a fatal heart attack during a public event. Witnessing this tragedy forces Homer to realize that loving yourself does not mean ignoring your health. He understands that true confidence comes from accepting yourself while also taking care of your body.
By the end of the episode, Homer decides to make healthier choices without losing his cheerful personality, and Springfield proudly celebrates its new town anthem.
