Story Summary

The episode begins when Springfield Elementary installs new vending machines filled with sugary snacks and unhealthy drinks. While most students enjoy the new treats, Bart quickly becomes obsessed with junk food and starts eating far more than he should.

As weeks pass, Bart gains a significant amount of weight and becomes increasingly unhealthy. His eating habits eventually lead to a shocking heart attack, something very unusual for a ten-year-old child. The doctors warn Homer and Marge that Bart's health is in serious danger unless he changes his lifestyle immediately.

Desperate to help their son, Homer and Marge send Bart to Serenity Ranch, a strict weight-loss camp run by Tab Spangler, a former food addict who now helps children overcome unhealthy eating habits. At first, Bart struggles with the camp's rules and constantly craves junk food, but he slowly begins learning healthier habits and the importance of self-control.

Meanwhile, the Simpson family faces another challenge—the expensive cost of Bart's treatment. To earn extra money, Homer and Marge transform their house into a youth hostel for German backpackers. Although the guests provide income, their stay leads to several funny misunderstandings and plenty of classic Simpsons comedy.

Back at the camp, Bart finally realizes that his addiction to junk food has been controlling his life. Determined to change, he returns to Springfield with a healthier attitude. In the end, he destroys the school's unhealthy vending machines, helping protect other children from making the same mistakes he did.

The episode ends with Bart healthier, more confident, and determined to make better choices in the future.
