Story Summary
The episode begins at Moe's Tavern, where Homer and his friends notice that Barney has suddenly become much slimmer. Barney reveals that his doctor prescribed a medication called Othinquic to help manage his health, and one of its side effects is significant weight loss.
News about the medication quickly spreads across Springfield. Before long, many residents begin taking the drug and experience dramatic transformations. The town becomes obsessed with looking thinner, and the new trend rapidly changes everyday life.
Unlike everyone else, Homer refuses to take the medication. He believes people should accept themselves as they are and doesn't think he needs the drug. However, Marge becomes worried about his health and eventually convinces him to reconsider.
Unfortunately, by the time Homer decides to try Othinquic, the medication has become extremely difficult to obtain because demand is so high. Desperate to find it, Homer turns to Springfield's Mafia for help, leading to a series of funny and unexpected situations.
As the only overweight man left in Springfield, Homer suddenly stands out everywhere he goes. His unusual appearance makes him the center of attention, and he finds himself becoming an unexpected target for both public curiosity and strange encounters.
In the end, Homer realizes that health decisions should be based on personal well-being rather than social pressure or popular trends. The episode closes with a reminder that confidence and good health should always be balanced.
