Story Summary

The episode begins with Homer boring everyone at Moe's Tavern by telling an endless story about Bart digging a hole in the backyard. Frustrated by the dull atmosphere and realizing that his bar has become outdated, Moe decides to visit his old bartending school, Swigmore University, hoping to rediscover his passion for the business.

Inspired by his former professor, Moe completely remodels the tavern into a stylish, modern lounge designed to attract younger and trendier customers. The new bar becomes an instant success, but Moe no longer wants Homer, Barney, Lenny, and Carl hanging around because they don't fit the new image.

Feeling rejected, Homer decides to create his own bar inside the Simpson family's garage. With the help of his friends, the garage quickly becomes a welcoming place where everyone can relax without worrying about fashion or popularity. Soon, many of Springfield's regular customers begin choosing Homer's simple neighborhood bar over Moe's trendy establishment.

Determined to shut down Homer's business, Moe points out that the garage bar doesn't have a legal licence to serve alcohol. Homer tries to avoid the problem by claiming the garage is actually a private hunting club, but the law requires club members to participate in an actual hunting trip.

Homer reluctantly organizes a turkey hunt, with Lisa joining him in hopes of protecting the animals. During the hunt, Moe secretly helps Lisa scare away the turkeys using a special whistle. The plan goes wrong when Homer accidentally shoots Moe in the leg after mistaking the sound for a wild animal.

Realizing how much he misses his old friends, Moe apologizes for abandoning them. He restores the tavern to its original welcoming atmosphere, and everyone reunites for a Thanksgiving celebration featuring a vegetarian turkey prepared with help from the guest band R.E.M.
